purpose is the leadership edge

1.

The widespread problem is that many companies confuse purpose with vision and mistakenly equate their mission statement with their true purpose. This lack of clarity around purpose leads to a deficiency in effective leadership. The absence of purpose means the absence of leadership.

2.

Additionally, many so-called "purposes" are actually manufactured corporate statements that lack genuine meaning. Below are examples of inspirational slogans that fall short—they are superficial, amorphous and designed solely for appearance, lacking the guiding principle needed to provide true direction.

Saving the planet.
Caring for our customers.
Commitment to sustainability.
To produce unique products that nurture human potential.
We are in business to prosper the society.

3.

A genuine purpose highlights the actions undertaken to tackle challenges and the impact achieved as a result. Just as DNA relies on paired strands for its structure, a compelling purpose must balance two key elements: action and impact. Both are essential for ensuring the validity, relevance, and authenticity of your purpose. They are the two sides of a balanced equation.

4.

Purpose isn't a business endeavour; it's a deeply personal experience, a unique expression of your true essence as a human being. There isn't a "business purpose"; rather, there is a leadership purpose that informs and shapes the business purpose.

5.

Businesses do not have purposes, leaders do.

Could you clearly define your purpose as a leader?

6.

Your leadership purpose is the essence of who you are and what sets you apart. Whether you're the CEO of a large company, an entrepreneur, a sales manager, or a software developer, your purpose defines your brand and reflects your true self.

Finding your leadership purpose, which then translates into a business purpose, is not easy. If it were, we would all clearly understand our reason for being and live that purpose every moment of every day.

7.

Our mission is to transform that reality—to assist leaders and businesses in discovering and defining their leadership purpose. We aim to uncover the leadership edge that inspires employees, captivates customers, engages stakeholders, and impacts the world.
